We’re back with a new ‘Get to know’. In this series we will talk with some people in the sneaker community to learn more about their passion and the person behind the sneaker collection. This week we talk with Kristine, also known as Kai Kai. You may recognize her from her clean sneaker shots, the best outfit posts and creative reels on Instagram @_kristinek. We can’t wait to get to know her a little better!
Hi Kristine! We’re so happy to have you here. For those who don’t know you, who is the girl behind @_kristinek?
Hey! Thank you for having me on board. I’m Kristine or you can call me Kai Kai, a 24-year-old based in UK, Warrington. I’m super in to all things street wear and sneakers and I love showcasing my passion through my insta: _kristinek. Besides that, I am an aspiring print designer, I love creating pattern designs and just all things creative.
We see a lot old and new heat on your feed! How did your passion for sneakers start?
So, my passion for sneakers started of from my brother. I grew up watching him collect sneakers and I always loved the passion he had for it. So when he gifted me a pair of Nike Air Max 90’s, that’s when I started collecting sneakers and since then, I’ve never looked back.
If you could choose any pair right now to add to your collection, which sneaker would you choose and why?
I would love to add the Jordan 1 Union – Black Toe to my collection. Everything from the concept to the execution of the shoe is just perfect. The OG Black Toe is also a favourite colour way of mine, so to see it revamped in a way that has been carefully designed and giving it a vintage look is just a must for me.
What’s your top 3 sneakers of your collection?
In no particular order, my Jordan 1 Royals because that pair was the reason why I started collecting Jordan 1’s and I love the colour blue. Second, My Nike Sacai LD Waffle because they are my go to shoes, they go with any outfits. Third, Travis Scott Air Force 1 Cactus Jack because I love the design and the detailing of the shoe, plus they also go with any outfit.
If you could wear only one pair of sneakers for the rest of your life, which one would you choose and why?
This is tough, but I would say the Nike Sacai LD Waffle. Purely because of the versatility of this pair. It’s such an easy shoe to style with any outfit, you can be running late and you need a quick pair to wear; these would be perfect and wouldn’t disappoint.
